Flights to Lagos - Kano by Dana Air

Dana Airlines Limited is set to take delivery of another Boeing MD83 aircraft, bringing to four the total number of aircrafts in its fleet. The airline has also announced that it would commence direct flights from Lagos to Kano with return flights via Abuja in a few weeks.In the words of Jacky Hathiramani, Chief Executive Officer of Dana Air, “Starting August 17, 2009, business and leisure travelers to the city of Kano will be able to experience the Dana Air hospitality as we extend our operations to the city of commerce. We will offer direct flights from Lagos to Kano and connect the city of Kano to Abuja on the return leg. Also, in a few days, we will take delivery of another Boeing MD83 aircraft to boost operations across all routes.”
Only recently, Dana Air introduced flights to Abuja from Lagos and added a second flight on the Enugu-Lagos route. “With the addition of another Boeing MD83 aircraft to our fleet, we will be able to further increase our flight frequency on all our routes, to meet the growing demand of our customers. We are also looking at extending our operations to the city of Port-Harcourt sooner than later”, hinted Mr. Hathiramani.
On maintenance of aircrafts in its fleet, Mr. Hathiramani said, “Dana Air has a technical partnership with Iberia and we adhere strictly to the maintenance schedule for our aircrafts as prescribed by the manufacturers and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. More detailed and scheduled checks are, however, carried out at the Iberia aircrafts maintenance facility in Madrid, Spain.”A subsidiary of Dana Group of Companies, Dana Airlines is Nigeria’s first new world carrier, offering premium services at an affordable rate.
New freighter routes for Etihad
Etihad Crystal Cargo will launch freighter operations to the Nigerian city of Lagos on 31 March and the Sri Lankan capital Colombo on 02 April. Lagos flights will be operated by MD11F aircraft with a capacity of 85 tonnes.

Virgin Nigeria begins daily flights to Warri
Virgin Nigeria will, on Tuesday, begin daily flights to Warri, in Delta State.
The introduction of this route brings to 10, the number of national destinations operated to by Virgin Nigeria while it will also offer more destination options to customers from Delta State, as they can connect via Lagos to many other domestic, regional and international destinations on Virgin Nigeria’s network.

British Airways increases fuel surcharge
Long haul passengers on British Airways face an increase in the cost of their tickets after the airline announced an increase in its fuel surcharge.
BA ha said that passengers will face an additional £5 for each long haul flight of less than nine hours, increasing the price of a single journey from £48 to £53.
